New Businesses Downtown State College Welcomed in 2022

Downtown State College has welcomed many new businesses in the past 4 months, including Oeuf Boeuf et Bacon, Studio One Photography, Chill Out Hookah Lounge, Drip Studio, Underground Tufting and Kokoro.  

Oeuf Boeuf et Bacon opened this past September at 131 S. Garner St. Oeuf Boeuf et Bacon is French for Egg beef and bacon. This French styled diner puts an interesting twist on American-styled breakfast with French cuisine mixed in. The restaurant is owned by Gillian Clark and partner Robin Smith. Clark has appeared on Food Network’s “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” and Guy Fieri’s “Diner’s, Drive-ins, and Dives”.  

Studio One Photography is one of three businesses that has opened this past October. Studio One is located at 121 S. Fraser St. In the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza. Studio One offers a variety of different photography options including graduation photography, event photography, digital media marketing, and more. Studio One also offers options for brands and for athletes.  

Another business that opened its doors in October was Chill Out Hookah Lounge, located at 224 W. College Ave. Chill out puts a twist on your hookah experience, offering an Artisan Tea Collection along with food and drinks. Chill Out also holds a variety of events with DJs for customers. 

  The final business that opened in October is Drip Studio, located at 246 E. Calder Way. Drip Studio is owned by Jen Eisenhauer, a first-generation immigrant of Vietnamese parents who grew up in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Eisenhauer opened Drip Studio because of her fascination with tattooing, along with her passion for innovation in tattooing technology. Eisenhauer is determined through Drip Studios to change the stigma of tattoos and what tattooing should be. 

Kokoro and Su Ji Chang Fen Dian, a Japanese restaurant, located at 404 E. Calder Way. The restaurant’s aims to “make ramen with kokoro (heart)”. Kokoro’s menu offers many ramen dishes priced around $13 to $14. Kokoro also has many appetizers and special combo menus.  

In November of 2022, Underground Tufting opened their doors at 204 W. College Ave. By Penn State student Sichen Shao. Underground Tufting is a do-it-yourself rug making business. Underground Tufting inspires their customers to make rugs from start to finish and to encourage all creativity. If handmaking rugs is not your style, Underground Tufting also offers rugs for sale and custom design orders.
