Since 1966, the Card family has been in business with Custom Shoe Repair in Downtown State College, bringing something different to the heart of Happy Valley. Even in 2020, there is still a cobbler here in State College.
Angelo Card, the owner of Custom Shoe Repair, is a State College local.
“It’s home. We were born and raised here.”
Card grew up working in the business, learning the craft from his grandfather. Card then purchased the business from his grandfather in 1995.
The key to Card’s success is standing on the quality of the work that he performs.
“The work I do, I do to my standards because mine are higher than the average person walking through the door might have. They wouldn’t know if a job is good or bad.”
The State College community is home to Card, and he wants to put a personal touch on everything he does.
“Local retail feeds your own community. It’s the local members of your community.”
