The Downtown State College Improvement District is excited to welcome Antifragile Brewing Company, the first and only brewery to serve the borough. After introducing Moody Culture Kombucha to the area back in 2017, owners Lisa Harpster and John Schaffer are bringing their passion for brewing to the community. The storefront will offer a variety of fermented craft beverages including beer, kombucha and local hard spirits as well as gourmet popcorn for snacking.

The vacancies downtown created an opportunity for us to explore a location with easy access to the downtown population, the Penn State population, as well as the local community,” said Harpster.

The team looks forward to serving clientele including “beverage enthusiasts” like themselves, encompassing State College locals and the 21+ Penn State student population. Sleek, modern décor with an artistic flair contributes to an elevated taproom interior. The location will be the first of its kind with a unique ambience and novel concept to create a memorable experience for all visitors. The hand brewed beer selection will vary, offering a new tasting experience with each visit.

“With other elevated establishments coming to the downtown area and creating a welcoming environment for our local community, we really wanted to add to this experience,” said Harpster. “Historically, downtown had been thought of as intimidating or off-limits to our local community; we wanted to be a part of changing that culture.”

Antifragile Brewing Company is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 324 East Calder Way. For more information, visit their Instagram.
