Calling all noodle lovers! Downtown State College’s newest cuisine option comes from fast-paced Korean culture. “Ramyun Studio” is a self-serve instant ramyun establishment that is coming soon to State College.
Ramyun Studio creates a unique dining experience where customers use an automatic self-cooker to create their own meals, choosing from fresh broths and toppings,  like jalapenos, eggs, and much more. The restaurant offers other traditional dishes for those uninterested in ramyun or looking for something more unique. Also featured on the menu are Kimchi (fermented vegetables), Kimbap (a dish remarkably similar to sushi), and delicious rice bowls. After paying at a kiosk, employees will present customers with everything they need to take their tastebuds on a flavorful journey. Don’t trust your ramyun-making skills? Patrons are welcome to ask the staff for help preparing their food!
Ramyun Studio’s owner, Don Kim, is a first-generation immigrant from South Korea who moved to State College 7 years ago. Kim says he began to love our town and community over the years and wanted to become a bigger part of it. He greatly enjoys introducing each culture to one another: South Korea to the US and vice versa, so he decided to bring self-service ramyun, a massive phenomenon in Korea, to State College. The HanGang Ramyun cooker is an experience that can’t be found elsewhere in State College and has only appeared in a few places in the nation. With his business model, locals can experience Pyun-Eui-Jum, a Korean convenience store, both its authenticity and its efficiency.
The restaurant will be open until 1:30 a.m. Thursday through Friday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, perfect for the active nightlife in State College. Ramyun Studio will be located at 208 E Calder Way, State College. Kim intends to be ready to open within the next month and will soon have a social media presence as well. Stop by after opening to support Kim’s mission of bringing genuine Korean cuisine and soul food to a community he cherishes!
