For 45 years, Looks Hair Design has been styling State College. They are incredibly grateful to the community for the opportunity to be a part of the Heart of Happy Valley.
Stacy Fix and Joe Selego, the owners of Looks Hair Design, both attended Penn State, and State College has become an important part of their lives.
“For both Joe and I, landing in downtown State College while attending Penn State gave us so many opportunities. To earn a degree, meet our significant others, a place to call Looks home, and a place to create lasting relationships with so many interesting people along the way,” Fix said.
The key to the success of Looks has multiple parts.
“We believe that our commitment to doing the very best we can, living our missions ‘to be the best part of our guests day,’ our team culture, and consistently improving our business while collaborating with our team along the way has been the key to our continued success and will keep serving us as we grow well into the future. We are inspired by the Japanese idea called ‘Kaizen’ which means ‘continuous improvement’ that we often will reference when trying to do the next best thing,” Fix said.
Fix and Selego love the community that exists in our town and how the town supports each other through everything.
“Our history is built on the incredible relationships we have formed with the diverse people of State College-the lifers as well as people with us for a short time…The love and kindness in the community is unparalleled and has been shown time and time again-when there is a need, or community members step up and help,” Fix said.
Fix and Selego know that being a local business brings so much more to the table than big box retail, knowing what sets them apart.
“There is a deeper focus on personal relationships and being held accountable to them. Also, having the pulse on and commitment to how our business serves the community,” Fix said.
