Spend your Spring Break Staycation with us in Downtown State College!
Even though we won’t be seeing much spring weather during the break in State College, there is plenty to do downtown to ward away the winter blues!
Let’s start with FREE ON-STREET PARKING downtown Monday through Friday after 5 pm and all weekend long…March 1-10! The Borough of State College has agreed not to enforce metered parking during these times! If you decide to park in a garage, don’t forget that many businesses validate parking, just ask! Or, pick up your validation in our office (127 S Fraser) Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm!
So, park free and enjoy a week filled with fun activities, shopping and dining downtown…
Monday, March 4th
You will be able to stay in while still getting out by attending The State Theatre’s Monday Movie Series. This week is Crazy Rich Asians with showings at 3 and 7pm! You could also cozy up to a book in Schlow Library. Bring the kids for their Daily Discovery Day from 11am-2pm! Children will be able to make a nest for two baby birds on Monday.
Tuesday, March 5th
Today is the day for a restaurant crawl in Downtown State College. Purchase a little game or puzzle from Nittany Quill and do it while enjoying breakfast and coffee at Saints’ Café – alone or with a friend! Later on, work your way down to The Corner Room for lunch. It’s a classic and there’s something on the menu for everyone. Spruce up a little bit before dinner at Inferno. The cold weather will make warm, brick oven pizza taste that much better inside. Finally, make your own dessert at Kiwi Yogurt.
Wednesday, March 6th
Take the kids to the library for their Stuffed Animal Sleepover Drop-Off! Your furry friend will enjoy a night of games, snacks, and more. To see what they were up to, return on Thursday between 2 and 7:30 and pick them up. Registration opens on March 1st. If you need a stuffed animal, stop by Growing Tree Toys or Animal Kingdom!
Thursday, March 7th
Begin your Staycation weekend with some local entertainment. There are FREE bachata dance classes being held at the Municipal Building from 5-8pm, courtesy of PSU Social Dance Club. Webster’s is also hosting an Open Mic Night from 6-8pm for First Thursday! Afterwards, make your way to The State Theatre and watch Happy Valley Improv perform at 8pm.
Friday, March 8th
By this point, you will have started getting emails that remind you of things you need to do before the work week starts again. They can wait one more day. It’s the last day of Spring Break – enjoy it! Attend DIY Hammered Copper Earrings at The Makery. You could also go to the BJC on Friday at 7pm for a family-friendly basketball game with the Harlem Globetrotters. Also on Friday (and Saturday) at 7pm, The Basement Nightspot will continue hosting the Wisecrackers Comedy Show. It’s sure to be a weekend full of smiles to end your State-cation on a high note!
Saturday, March 9th
Get back into the workweek groove with some exercise. It can be a rough transition, but we’ve got some options to keep you covered. F45 has a special hour-long 10AM class on Saturdays that features an in-studio DJ. Lila Yoga also has live music on Saturdays, with artist Ady Martinez on March 9th. Take a little extra time to detox this morning before returning to your everyday routine!
Thank you for spending your Spring Break in Downtown State College!
