Welcome to Blue Brick Theatre, State College’s home for laughter, creativity, and unforgettable improv performances. Established on July 9th, 2021, with a weekend of sold-out shows, Blue Brick Theatre has quickly become a vibrant hub for comedy enthusiasts in the heart of downtown State College.
Blue Brick Theatre is owned and operated by Happy Valley Improv, LLC, the premier longform improv company in State College. Happy Valley Improv is a thriving community of talented improvisers dedicated to bringing the art of improv theatre to the local stage.
It all began in the basement of a church when three improvisers—Andrea, James, and Sam—came together with a shared vision of creating something truly special. In the frigid month of January 2017, they started practicing weekly and were soon joined by Nate, adding to the creative energy of the group.
Since then, Happy Valley Improv has come a long way. We’ve performed successful runs of shows at the State Theatre, expanded our company with exceptional talent, and led engaging improv workshops in various settings. We’re passionate about sharing the joy of improv and helping our community discover their own comedic potential.
In May 2021, a major milestone was achieved when Happy Valley Improv took over the lease at 209 W Calder Way, proudly opening the doors to the Blue Brick Theatre. This exciting move has allowed us to create a dedicated space for improv performances, classes, and events, further expanding the improv community in State College.
At Blue Brick Theatre, we believe in the power of laughter, collaboration, and the transformative nature of improv. Our shows are filled with spontaneous scenes, hilarious characters, and interactive moments that will leave you smiling long after the lights dim. In addition, we offer a range of improv classes suitable for all skill levels, where participants can learn, grow, and unleash their creativity in a supportive and inclusive environment.
