Dance Movie Night: Take the Lead

The Dance Movie Night series hosted by State College’s professional dance company​, VanDance Inc., continues with a free screening of the highly acclaimed film Take the Lead on June 4 at 7 p.m. at Tempest Studios, 140 Kelly Alley in State College. The monthly series features unique dance, theatre and performance art films.

When internationally renowned dancer Pierre Dulaine (Antonio Banderas) takes a teaching job in a New York City public school, he meets ridicule from the street-wise students, who scoff at the notion of ballroom dancing. Far from being discouraged, he melds their hip-hop moves with his classical style, helping them create a dance form and, in the process, becoming their mentor.

Sunday afternoon parking in the borough lot and on the street is free. There is no cost to attend the event, but a $5 donation is recommended.
