The Nittany Valley Writers Network will meet on Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m., in the Schlow Library Community Room, 211 S. Allen St., State College. Guest speaker, Eva J. Pell, will discuss “My Unlikely Journey — From Scientist to Children’s Author; From Idea to Publication.”

Pell began her science career at Penn State as a professor of plant pathology, and became the Senior Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School. From 2010 to 2014, she served as Under Secretary for Science at the Smithsonian Institution. She is currently the Board Chair of Discovery Space in State College. Pell is also the author of ResQ, a series of middle grade novels focused on rescuing endangered species.
