The Next Stage Theatre Company presents “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde
August 2 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Adapted for 90 minutes and 7 actors
directed by Jason Zanitsch
Time and place: New York, in about 1950
featuring Elizabeth Baptista, Alexa Krepps, Priscilla McFerren, Drew Pirrone-Brusse, Nate Schierman, Laura Waldhier, and Michael Waldhier
Mark Fisher of The Guardian described a performance as “a welcome dose of earnestness and cucumber sandwiches”.
Jack and Algie adopt fake names, friends, and family to escape their duties so they can do whatever they want.
But in pursuing Gwendolyn and Cecily, they get more and more entangled in their own lies.
Mayhem and delightfully illogical dialogue ensue.
