Lock Boutique Moves into Downtown State College
Lock Boutique has just moved downtown in January of 2023. Lock Boutique is owned and operated by Lydia Shafer and is located at 216 E. College Ave. Shafer is from the Centre County area and shared with us her inspiration for her business.
Lock Boutique opened in Downtown Bellefonte June 13, 2020. After 2 years of business, Lock has moved to Downtown State College.
Shafer is very excited to showcase Lock Boutique to Downtown State College because of its variety. Shafer shared that her inspiration for opening Lock was the photos of cute outfits you see on Instagram and Pinterest.
“I just felt like I had no options in the area,” states Shafer. “I felt that my only option was to shop online for trendy clothing items, and I wanted to bring that for others who feel the same as I do”.
Shafer’s original business background was in photography. Shafer used to be a wedding photographer and also had her own photography studio. Shafer shared that this is her first experience in retail, but was so happy to have this opportunity.
“I knew I wanted to open this boutique for a long time,” shared Shafer. “I was looking at spaces downtown and I always noticed Ethereal Boutique and was obsessed with the location and space. So, when they messaged me on Instagram about their space opening, I jumped right on it”.
Shafer shared that she is hoping the space provides all customers a feeling of happiness and warmth. She wants everyone to feel included and valued at her boutique. Lock Boutique specializes in spring and summer items, specifically bright colors. Shafer shared her favorite pieces are their brand new long floral dresses and their purple dress pants.
