Jan Flinchbaugh came to State College in 1969 after her marriage to her husband, Terry who worked at Penn State. After obtaining her Masters in Spanish and Education from Penn State, she went on to teach Spanish at the Bellefonte Area High School for 33 years. In 2004 she retired and joined Jan Sawhney, her friend and neighbor working part time at her new store on Calder Way, Home Reflections.
In December of 2013, with the recession still so evident, the “two Jan’s” decided to shift all charitable giving to local organizations in need. Jan is a talented avid quilter and has made hundreds of quilts for friends, family and customers over the years. 100% of the sale of Jan’s quilts, from Coaster Sets to full size Lap Quilts is donated to local organizations. Thanks to the generosity of our loyal customers, to date over $4,500, has been raised to benefit, the Food Bank of State College, Centre Volunteers in Medicine and the local Cancer Survivors Association. Each month a different charity benefits.
Shopping local means giving back to your community, sometimes just “One Stitch at a Time”.
