So many inspirational artists are born out of smaller towns, and State College is no different. Good at setting our eyes on the future, our town has fully embraced the generational talent that is Lelaina Scott, the newest local artist featured in the Downtown Improvement District office.

As a Penn State graduate, Lelaina Scott returned home to State College after the pandemic and picked up her old painting pursuits, conceiving Off the Record Arts. Since then, Lelaina Scott’s vibrant visuals have become displayed around her hometown, with exhibitions installed at the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania and the Bellefonte Art Museum.

Lelaina Scott’s interests expand into teaching acrylic painting at The Arts and Crafts Center at Penn State and working locally as a part-time barista. She’s an embedded part of her local art community, a fresh State College creative sharing their craft. Now, some of Lelaina Scott’s lovely paintings are in the heart of downtown.

Beginning April 2nd, head to the Downtown Improvement District office on S. Fraser St. to enjoy the whimsically colorful world of Lelaina Scott. On April 5th, from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M., the Downtown Improvement District office will hold an artist reception to welcome Lelaina Scott at our returning First Friday event.

We can’t wait to see you there and don’t forget to support another innovative local by following Lelaina Scott’s budding artistic journey on her website and Instagram.
