STATE COLLEGE, PA   April 21, 2017 – Happy Valley Music Fest, formerly Summer’s Best Music Fest, has announced the final acts in the 2017 line up, with The Spin Doctors and Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires headlining the two-day, four-stage schedule.

Charles Bradley & His Extraordnaires will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, closing out the 2017 festival.

“We’re excited about the level of talent we have for the festival this year,” said George Arnold, Executive Director of the Downtown State College Improvement District (DSCID) which puts on the event each year.  “It amazes me to think about how much the festival has grown over the past 11 years.”

The festival began in 2007 as a free, three-day festival featuring the finest local and regional music.  Festival organizers opted to scale back the event to a more intimate one-day festival in 2008, allowing the event to grow organically over the next seven years.  2014 saw the addition of the festival’s first national level performer, and in 2015 the festival began to move towards a ticketed model to allow the festival to grow and attract more visitors to Downtown State College.

The festival moved to a two-day schedule last year, offering even more national level performers while continuing to feature some of the best and brightest local and regional artists.  This year the two-day schedule festival continues with a great mix of national, regional and local talent.

“This is another momentous year for us in the evolution of the music festival,” said Shannon Bishop, chair of the festival.  “We’re building on the foundation that was laid last year with the two-day format and national level talent.  We’re also excited to bring back the beer pubs which were such a successful part of last year’s event.”

Once again, festival goers will be able to purchase beer at one of two beer pubs and stroll between stages within the beer garden zone, enjoying their favorite beverages while listening to outstanding music in a downtown outdoor setting.

A new feature for 2017 is the Friday night only Taste of Downtown event.  A number of downtown restaurants will be at the festival showcasing some of their favorite dishes.  Festival goers can purchase food tickets to redeem at the various booths and explore the varied and delicious flavors while enjoying the great music and festival atmosphere.
