The Downtown Improvement District is thrilled to welcome the art of Tim Reeder. His exhibition, “Constantly Aspiring to the Condition,” will be on display during the months of July and August.

Reeder, a member if the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania, says that creating images and stories has been an important part of his life since childhood.

After completing his education in Mifflin County in 1968, Reeder enlisted in the United States Coast Guard.

“During that time, my world view expanded significantly as my assignments took me from basic training in Cape May, NJ, to patrolling the North Atlantic, and ultimately to serving on search-and-rescue missions on the Outer Banks of North Carolina,” Reeder said.

After four years of service, Reeder enrolled at Penn State and studied Art with an emphasis on drawing and painting. He graduated in 1978 and began his 35-year career as an art teacher in Mifflin County.

“I have been fortunate to live in State College since 1973 with my wife Kathleen, and to raise our children Emily and Jake here. The arts abound in this university community, and they are highly accessible—a huge plus for a family and an artist,” Reeder said.

His show covers many years of his work through paintings, though he has experience in other mediums.

“I consider my approach to painting to be eclectic because my styles range from realism to abstraction,” Reeder said. “My hope is that my own unique approach is what distinguishes my work.”

Welcome, Tim Reeder, to the DSCID office—we are excited to have you!
