The Downtown State College Improvement District (DSCID) is delighted to feature the work of Francine Jones. Her collection, Nature Inspired Watercolors, will be on display in the DSCID office throughout the months of March and April 2022.

The collection utilizes watercolor paints to illustrate the beauty of the natural world. “I love nature and the beauty it imparts upon us. That beauty is what I wish to depict in watercolor,” says Jones, “Nature’s shadows and a feeling of distance are favorites of mine.”

Initially beginning her artistic journey with graphite drawing, Jones credits her past experience with graphite as helpful in expanding into watercolor. She attributes much of her artistic learning to classes she enrolled in at the Art Alliance of Central PA. “Classes at the Art Alliance were a tremendous incentive and invaluable learning experience,” says Jones, “I always looked forward to these and the camaraderie with other artists.”

An Artist’s Reception will be held during First Friday on April 1st from 5-8pm in the DSCID office at 127 S Fraser Street. The public is welcome to stop in and view the new collection!
