Randi Anderson’s art exhibition titled “The Mind Is a Frightening Place” is coming to the Downtown Improvement District. This exhibition will be displayed through September and October 2022.

This is an exhibition of acrylic paintings and poetry that explore the inner world of desires, fears, and mental illness.

In the endless network of memories, desires, fears, and associations, there is always some risk of coming across something unpleasant or threatening that is hard to cope with. What’s more, too many people suffer trauma or mental illness that turns the mind into what feels like an active, aggressive enemy.

“Through paintings and poetry, I seek not only to acknowledge what so many are experiencing,” said Anderson. “But I also seek to leave the viewer with hope. The mind is frightening, but the fear can be faced.”

Randi Lee Anderson’s first memory of impacting others with art was unnerving her babysitter with an eerily convincing drawing of a cow. Since then, she has continued the tradition of unnerving viewers with expressive surrealism and emotional portraits, as well as raw and dreamlike poetry. She is currently working as an editor while building an art and publishing business, Candless Creative.
