Let’s welcome Chew Chew Bun to our Downtown community! Located on 115 E. Beaver Avenue, Chew Chew Bun is an Asian Bakery established in 2019 in State College, first opening at the Nittany Mall then relocating to Downtown State College this August. Owner and Penn State Alum, Skye Chang, knew that the State College community would appreciate an Asian bakery as there wasn’t anything like it in the area.
Chew Chew Bun specializes in creating Taiwanese-inspired authentic pastries, like sweet and savory filled buns. The store’s name originated from a bunny called Chew Chew that Skye rescued while walking with colleagues in Southern California. After which, Skye adopted a female bunny named Bubble at a local bunny rescue shelter.
The black and white logo represents both Chewy’s and Bubble’s fur colors and the name Chew Chew Bun honors the sweet bunnies who added love, laughter, and inspiration to Skye’s life. The handcrafted recipes were handed down to Skye from his mother who works along side him, baking regularly for the cafe.
Chew Chew Bun pastries are baked to order and Skye vows to “never sell any unsold buns the next day”. They believe in using the best quality ingredients without added modifiers, preservatives, or bread improvers, so customers will always have the freshest products.
