The Downtown State College Improvement District is pleased to welcome Lupita’s Authentic Mexican Food! The West Beaver Avenue storefront marks the third location of the establishment.

Owners Maria Guadalupe Rojas Orozco, affectionately nicknamed “Lupita,” and Emilio Lopez Ramirez are passionate about sharing their signature recipes with the State College community in the heart of downtown.

“We used to drive through here at night and we would see a lot of people walking,” said Ramirez. “We have been looking to get a spot here since before COVID.”

Emilio and Maria came to the United States twenty years ago as teenagers in search of a new beginning. Along with the dream of their very own restaurant, they brought with them a myriad of flavorful, authentic Mexican recipes prepared with care.

The traditional menu encompasses cultural favorites including gorditas, sopes, empanadas and more. A fresh assorted sauce bar is also featured to give hungry patrons the option to customize their meal. The West Beaver Avenue storefront has adjusted its hours of operation, now open to serve the public until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays to cater to the late-night scene and attract students on their way home.

The Ramirez’s thank the students and State College community for their support! The DSCID is thrilled to welcome yet another hardworking “mom and pop” business into the community. Supporting local and shopping small is at the heart of our mission, and we are pleased to introduce Lupita’s to our district. Lupita’s Authentic Mexican Food is located at 312 West Beaver Avenue and is open 11am-9pm Monday through Thursday, 11am-2am Friday and Saturday, and 11am-8pm on Sunday.
