Who doesn’t like free dessert? An ongoing Facebook contest conducted by Sweet Tooth Bakery is offering up the chance to win various baked goods each week. Owner Cheri Christian was inspired to begin the contest after losing a large source of her radio advertising on the WRSC radio station.
“I did advertising with the radio station morning show for probably over 10 yrs and each week I would take them out a cake or sweet treat and a description of it,” said Christian, “The radio guys were let go from their job and I needed to find another way to advertise to let customers know what I had and also taste the products so I came up with the new idea.”
Each week, a business and Facebook winner are chosen. The new business winner is nominated by the previous business winner at the beginning of the week, and the Facebook winner is randomly selected after answering a trivia question correctly at the end of the week. The same prize is given to both the business and Facebook winner.
“I have done the contest for over a year and try to keep track of who wins so there won’t be repeat winners yet!” said Christian.
Some of past giveaway creations have included buttercream cakes, cake pops, brownie platters and macarons. Cheri noted she is often inspired by State College happenings such as Penn State football, holidays and change of the seasons. Other times, she utilizes the giveaway opportunity as a time to get creative and broaden her baking horizons.
“I will often challenge myself to make something new I have never done. That usually means watching a class I have purchased online and doing research into it as well as perfecting the recipe.”
